MEET WHO’S BEHIND OYA
Hi we’re Candace Allen and Dr. Laura Allen—first cousins with a lifelong passion for health and wellness that runs deep in our family.
Our great-grandfather, Dr. Lylburn C. Downing, made history in 1915 by founding the first African American hospital accredited by the American Board of Surgeons. Driven by the heart breaking loss of a close friend who was denied care at a segregated hospital, he created a sanctuary for Black patients in his community, ensuring they received compassionate care they rightfully deserved.
This legacy of dedication to healthcare has been carried on by Laura’s father, an orthopedic surgeon, and continues with Laura as an MD and Candace, an esthetician, and holistic nutritionist. Our unwavering commitment to health- especially Black health- is an integral part of our identity and mission

‘‘GENERATIONAL HEALTH IS TRUE WEALTH’’
Following in the footsteps of our great-grandfather, who was committed to advancing Black health, we both graduated from Howard University with a passion for wellness. As Candace transitioned from being an actress and model to an esthetician and holistic nutritionist, she noticed how spending long days indoors on set contributed to her vitamin D deficiency. Meanwhile, Laura, as a medical doctor and researcher, faced similar challenges due to her long hours in the hospital.
As we advanced in our careers, it became increasingly clear that women of color are often overlooked by the vitamin and supplement industry. The unique health challenges we face, like vitamin D deficiencies, aren’t being properly addressed by the mainstream supplement industry. Recognizing this disparity, we knew something had to change.
That’s why we created a daily supplement that supports the specific needs of women of color. Our formula is designed to help bridge the nutrient gap and support overall well-being. This is more than just a product—it’s a mission for change so we can create a healthier future for our beautiful community.
